Wajarri Yamatji People
In 2006 an agreement was signed that permits the company to explore its holdings in the region. The agreement provides protection for important sites of the Wajarri Yamatji and preserves this cultural heritage within Weld Range.
Jidi Jidi People
In November 2008, Sinosteel Midwest signed a Heritage Agreement with the Jidi Jidi Aboriginal Corporation that allows the company to explore in the Robinson Range area. This agreement provides protection for all important cultural and heritage sites and preserves the cultural heritage of the Jidi Jidi People in the region.
The company is also actively working with the Jidi Jidi on various cultural awareness and training initiatives. This will allow the Jidi Jidi to benefit from the company’s work in the Robinson Range and for Sinosteel Midwest employees to better understand the culture and values of the Jidi Jidi People.
